They wanted to involve customers and the general public in National Bank’s tree planting initiative which saw the bank plant over 2 million trees in 2014.
The challenge was not only to sensitize Kenyans on the merits of tree planting, but also get them to plant trees.
This gave birth to the idea: virtual trees.
They came up with a unique desk calendar design whereby a ‘new tree’ would be planted every month.
These ‘trees’ contained sensitization messages.
The calendars proved a hit in schools, kick-starting tree planting programmes
and a drive to educate rural folk on tree planting’s advantages.
